Dov, Apoptosis is a miraculous thing. An apoptotic cell remind me of a samurai who never thinks twice before killing himself. There is a difference between suicidal samurai and apoptosis, though. Samurai’s death comes because of his sick ideology. Apoptosis comes as an act of altruism. Apoptosis teaches us that altruism is not intrinsic to higher forms of life, like mammals, birds, crocodiles, etc. It is an essential property of cells, or (in your term) of spaceships full of genes. Apoptosis is an active process. Apoptotic cell is not just dying because of the lack of food or oxygen. Now, some gene crews are not as altruistic. They refuse to sacrifice themselves for the sake of other adjacent space stations. Then people get cancer, or autoimmune disorders, or developmental anomalies.

הבעיה שלי היא בעיה של אלפי פוסט-אירוע מוחי (ושל בני משפחתם). במשך 90 שנה, עד שהגעתי לבילינסון עם האירוע, לא ידעתי מה זה קטטר. בבילינסון הכניסו אותי לשגרת קטטר בנובמבר 2013 כי זה מסייע לשגרת העבודה של ביה’ח . אבל תחילת שגרת קטטר בגילי היא סוף חיי בגסיסה עלובה ממושכת מכאיבה. אין יכולת להשתקם /להיגמל מזה וזה דורש טיפול ועיסוק (ע’י החולה ו/או גם ע’י אשתו) כל שעה 24 שעות ביממה. האורולוגים שאני מכיר מוכנים לנסות לגמול אך ורק ע’י נתוח שלפוחית השתן ו/או הערמונית, למרות שבמקרה שלי 90 שנה השלפוחית והערמונית לא דרשו ממני קטטר. הם לא מוכנים להתיחס להרגל הכפוי של הקטטר כמו שהוא באמת, כפייה פבלובית של הגנים שלי. ענף האורולוגיה לא למד עד היום כיצד לגמול כפיית קטטר באופן פבלובי. הוא פשוט משתף פעולה עם המערך העכשווי בביה’ח בהתעלמות מוחלטת מצרכי/טובת המטופל (ומשפחתו) למרות שברור לענף האורולוגיה שהכפייה הקטטרית היא פשוט לדון את המטופל (ואת משפחתו) להפסקה מוחלטת של המשך חיים נורמלי, לגסיסה ועיסוק כפויים בהקשר לקטטר עד מות המטופל…
אני מנסה לברר אם יש או אם אפשר לפתח מערך גמילה פבלובי לגנים של המטופל, בתהליך חינוך פבלובי, לגנים ולגנום שלי…
אם יש דרך להחזיר את המטופל להמשך עיסוקיו הרגילים במקום לעקור אותו לתקוע אותו/ה בעיסוק הבלעדי עם הקטטר עד סוף חייו…
